A week in the life of Nader and Stefano, two inseparable 16 year-old boys living in Ostie, on the sea side near Rome. Nader is Egyptian but he was born in Rome. He falls in love with an Italian girl, Brigitte, much to his parent’s despair, and starts to face his identity contradictions.
The title is a reference to Pier Paolo Pasolini’s 1962 poem, Prophecy, in which the Italian filmmaker mentions the coming of a multicultural society where several ethnic groups live together. New peoples arrive bearing seeds of antic history: the blue-eyed Ali.
Born in Rome in 1978, Claudio Giovannesi graduated from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. From 2001 to 2004, he works for the TV program Blob. LA CASA SULLE NUVOLE (THE HOUSE IN THE CLOUDS, 2009), his first feature film, wins several awards in the Brussels Film Festival and the Villerupt Italian Film Festival. In 2009, he becomes interested in questions regarding teenage years and social integration in Rome’s suburbs for his documentary FRATELLI D’ITALIA, rewarded by a special mention at the Rome Film Festival. Four years later, he pushes his reflection further on these themes while directing his fiction: ALI’S BLUE EYES.
