Albania. Rudina, a dedicated student, and her brother Nick, are two teenagers who lead a normal life. Their father supports the family by running a bread delivery service. To save time, he regularly takes a shortcut across their neighbour’s land, but the neighbour is less than happy about it. One day a violent argument sparks up between the two men during which the neighbour dies. The father disappears and his family become victims of the Kanun code of honour that forbids male family members from leaving the home. Whilst Nick finds himself locked up at home, Rudina must ensure the family’s survival by taking charge of the family business. Their father’s surrender is the only thing that can save them from this unjust punishment.
