Following her father’s death, Cinderella is now an orphan and becomes her mother in law and half sisters’ servant. Though loaded with heavy chores all day long, she loves horse riding and crossbow shooting. One day in the forest, she meets a lavishly dressed horse rider.

Václav Vorlícˇek

Born in 1930, Vorlícˇek graduates from FAMU in 1956, and joins the Barrandov studios to work as a scriptwriter and assistant director for fictions. In 1960, he directs his first feature film, the Lupínek Affair (Prˇípad Lupínek). Others will follow, amongst which Who Wants to Kill Jessie ? (Kdo chce zabít Jessii ?, 1966) and You Are a Widow, Sir (Pane, vy jste vdova !, 1971), scripted by Miloš Macourek, with whom Vorlícˇek will collaborate for most of his following films. Expect humour and parodies ! His children films will open the gates of Europe for him, amongst those : Three wishes for Cinderella (Tri orísky pro Popelku, 1973) and Thomas the falconer (Král sokolu, 1999), released in France in 2000.
