In the heart of northwest China, surrounded by cotton fields and desert, is the Uyghur village where Isa lives. Isa must accept her mother’s illness and her friends’ leaving to attend a new school.
This film offers a sensitive look at the Chinese Muslim minority, who struggle to conform to the Chinese education system. It was awarded the Grand Prix of the Generation Kplus section at the 2019 Berlinale.
