A unicorn named U comes to the rescue of Mona, a young girl driven to despair by the cruelty of her adoptive parents. Time goes by, Mona grows and turns into a dreamy teenager. One day, in this fantasy land, a family of noisy and bizarre musicians appear, and amongst them, Kulka the charmer…
Born in 1962 in Besançon, Serge Elissade studies fine arts in Bordeaux, becomes an art teacher and teaches himself animation. In 1991, he directs The Streetsweeper, earning him international recognition and an Oscar nomination for best short film. As well as taking part in many animation movies, he co-creates the studio L’Atelier d’Anim and makes short films including The Secret Life of Emile Frout (1994), Green (2002) based on Marie Desplechin and episodes of the series 1 Minute at the Museum. His first feature film, U (2006), is adapted from the works of Grégoire Solotareff, with whom he worked on Loulou (2003). In 2012, he works on The Day of the Crows and directs two series, C’est Bon and Boris. He also illustrates children books.
