Goshu, an orchestra cellist, suffers the wrath of the conductor for his clumsiness and the lack of expressiveness of his playing. They are only six days away from the big concert. As he starts his solitary nocturnal practice of Ludwig van Beethoven’s symphony n. 6, little animals come to see Goshu and one by one, they try to help him.

Isao Takahata

Born in 1935 in Ise, Japan, Takahata studies French literature at the University of Tokyo and joins the animation studio Tôei in 1959. In 1968, he directs his first feature film, Horus, making his first collaboration with Hayao Miyazaki. They work together between 1974 and 1979 on the series Heidi : A Girl of the Alps, 3000 Leagues in Search of Mother and Ann of Green Gables before Takahata joins the Ghibli studio. Unlike Miyazaki, he does not draw himself. After Chie the Brat (1981) and Gauche the Cellist (1982), Takahata directs Grave of the Fireflies (1988), which makes him known in the West. Following Pom Poko (1994), My Neighbours the Yamadas (1999) and Panda, Little Panda (2003), The Tale of The Princess Kaguya is released in 2013.
