Alfie Atkins is a 6 year-old little boy, both curious and imaginative. When he and his friends are not playing pirates, he dreams of having a dog. But his father forbids it, arguing he is too young and that it is a huge responsibility. One day, while they are walking in a park, his father introduces an old neighbour to him, who is actually a magician...

Torill Kove

Torill Kove was born in 1959 in Hamar, Norway. She moved to Montreal in 1981. After studying animation at Concordia University, she held various positions at the National Film Board of Canada. She also did children’s books illustrations. Her film My Grandmother Used to Iron the King’s Shirts (Min bestemor strøk kongens skjorter) won several international awards and was selected for the Academy Award for Animated Short Film in 2000. She won this award in 2007 with The Danish Poet (Den danske dikteren). Hocus Pocus Alfie Atkins ! was her first feature film.
