The Hoover family goes on a trip on board of an old van from New Mexico to California to attend Little Miss Sunshine contest. This is the dream of their 7 year-old daughter, Olive, a little girl who pictures herself as a beauty queen. On the way, they will have to deal with broken dreams, heart attacks and the old Volkswagen van’s breakdowns...

Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris

Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris were born in 1957 and 1958 respectively, both in California. They started their career by creating the television show The Cutting Edge on MTV. After that, they made documentaries, series episodes and video clips for music bands, including REM, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Oasis or the Ramones. Their work was rewarded many times. As advertising and documentary producers, they co-founded the company Bob Industries. In 2006, they directed their first feature film, Little Miss Sunshine, a fictional film which was widely acclaimed by viewers and critics and multi-awarded. In 2012, they directed the romantic comedy Ruby Sparks.
