Shuhei and Kai may have a common passion for the piano, everything else divides them : social class and, above all, their approach of music. Shuhei comes from a wealthy and demanding family and considers this instrument as a constant challenge. Kai only works on instincts and only sees the fun side of piano. Masayuki Kojima

Born in 1961 in Yamanashi, Japan, Kojima starts as a series director for several animation studios before joining the Madhouse studio, where he animates and supervises several TV film projects, short films and feature films. Master Keaton (1999) and Monster (2005), adapted from Naoki Urasawa’s mangas, earn him international recognition. In 2007, he directs his first feature film, Piano Forest, followed four years later by Tibetan Dog.
